John McCain on network neutrality

If you’re having trouble understanding that it’s basically like the bill of rights for the internet. You don’t pay it any mind unless it’s threatened. I would say that now is the time to act, but it seems like McCain’s proposal will fall short, if not in the senate surely at the president’s desk (network neutrality being one of his campaign priorities).
However if we where to abolish network neutrality we would only need to look as far as china for a model. There internet is the most regulated and blocked I can think of. It would be a shame for “the land of the free” to be lead into the valley of chains by one of its champions of freedom.
Like most people everyone has a price, John McCain may have found his, in the telecommunication industry.

iphone on sprint?

Well currently the iPhone is only available via AT&T in the United States. Believe it or not there are actual reasons why. The main reason is that there are two types of networks in the United States.
Currently the two networks are CDMA, that’s Verizon and Sprint; AT&T and T-mobile are on GSM.

In terms of the 3g network catch phrase, it means it’s the third generation. That’s it, nothing special. 4g network may be able to get the iPhone to more customers and remove the coveted AT&T monopoly on the iPhone. Both networks are working to get 4g systems operational. They are both working on systems that are based on the same technology so instead of apple trying to make 2 different versions of their phone they can keep releasing the same one to different carriers.
Apple has continued to renew its contract with AT&T, however we will just have to wait and see if the tantalizing prospect of getting everyone using an iPhone in the next few years spurs a rejection of AT&T’s exclusive contract.
There is 1 factor that may prove the breaking point at the moment: AT&T doesn’t break even on a new iPhone contract until 6 months down the line. The apple contract is costing them a lot of money. So until 4g networks become dominant I’ll keep my blackberry, and hope there can be a standardized iPhone.
Funny fact: France is the only country in the world that legally sells unlocked iPhones that can be put on any carrier. Point 1 for France !

how to pick a new TV

So, if you do any type of shopping you realize that Televisions are getting rather cheap This doesn't mean that your getting a good deal. On the one hand if however you don't really care about picture quality then the deals are fine :)
Lets talk about different HD types you have 720p and 1080p/i

720p: well this is the standard for television so at the bare minimum you should upgrade to this lvel for decent picture quality. I'm not going to get into the definition at this time but will provide a wiki link. 720p wiki link

1080p/i well these two formats are full HD, 1080i is more a reference to widescreen formats. television programs are currently not available in 1080p/i but many movies will move to at least the 1080p format. 1080p/i wiki link

well those are your versions of HD, 1080 beats 720 cool. Well lets take a look at Hetz(Hz) and why this is important! a word that is used alot in this topic is Frames Per Second (fps)it's the rate at witch frames are displayed per second.

At the moment most movies are recorded in 24fps. while movie theaters project movies at 48fps. this means each frame is shown twice. Don't get lost here but most TV's are 60hz. 60hz means that the TV displays 60 still images per second! Sounds like a lot right? well it doesn't divide evenly so the tv will show some images more than others. However there are standards that will divide evenly so every frame is shown the same amount of times. 120hz and 240hz. both of these divide evenly. there is some debate on weather or not this is important but i would go with 120/240 TV's over a 60hz.

Well now you know that 24fps is the standard for movies and that TV shows are now in 720p so if your looking at the bare bones for an upgrade there you go. however if your looking at something a little better go with the 1080p/i with 120hz-240hz I was most pleased with my selection ;D
